Nineteen Eighty-Four

Hi guys!

I’m really glad to start my new series, which is going to focus on beautiful/interesting book covers, with this post about Nineteen Eighty-Four by Gorge Orwell. There will be no big speech in these posts, I just want to share with you some covers that I find especially eye-catching. Nineteen Eighty-Four is a timeless classic and it has had myriads of fascinating covers throughout the decades, so I thought it would be the perfect subject for this first post.

Below is a selection of my favourite contemporary covers of Nineteen Eighty-Four. Do you guys have a favourite edition or book cover for this novel?

Penguin Classics,  2013

Penguin, 2008

Vintage Publishing, 2009

Penguin Classics,  2004

I love the idea of this series! Looking forward to your future posts about covers 🙂 I think that book covers can have a huge impact on not only the decision of whether to buy a book or not, but also the reading experience itself – if a book has a beautiful cover, it definitely makes me think more positively about the book before I begin to read, and so more likely to push on with it if I’m not too sure if I’m enjoying it or not (bad of me, I know!).
I personally love the ‘redacted’ Nineteen Eighty Four cover – it’s really original and is something that could only be pulled off by such a famous book!

I couldn’t agree more! There were a few times when I kept reading books that I wasn’t especially enjoying mostly because they had really beautiful covers x)
